The monastery, founded at the end of the 12th century by the Cistercian Order, forms an extensive complex of buildings, built from the Romanesque to the Baroque era. For centuries it has been an important center of culture and education, and later it has also engaged in mining and industrial business. The artists of the Baroque art in Bohemia participated in the decoration of the Convent Temple of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, among them Václav Vavřinec Reiner, Jan Kryštof Liška and other top painters and sculptors more about the history of the monastery.
